Add new object , RIght View

Okay here it is I am using Blender 2.49 o the MAC, according to some of the tutorials I have been doing it says if you are in front view and add a new object comes in to the scene in front view and I guess the same follows for the other views...

WHY WHY doesn't mine , I go to front view like the tutorial and add my object and it looks nothing like what happend on the tutorial
